P.S. (quoting from this week's Swiss Airlines e-letter) Switzerland became a member of the Schengen Area in December 2008. Consequently, travel within the common border area no longer involves passport checks. With the introduction of the 2009 summer timetable Schengen regulations were introduced at Swiss airports.
