Your registration fee covers truly excellent accomodation, all food, beer, wine, goody bag, freebies, live music, and so much more.

Weekend mis-information

Friday 25 July

Arrive in Cernay and your first task is to find the venue! We will allocate beds (you get sheets and have to make your own beds!) and give out the goody bags (if we've remembered to bring them!) At 7pm we'll do a short run around the town, hopefully sending the FRBs as far as possible. Please wear RED, WHITE and BLACK for this run! More sedate Hashers may walk across Cernay to - the drinks stop where we will sample a local beverage while admiring a local sight.

Then it's back to the Auberge de Jeunesse where you'll get real Alsatian tartes flambées from an oven in the garden, and where you'll be warming up to the excitement of Saturday.

Saturday 26 July - the main event

On Saturday morning breakfast will be served from 8am to 9am and then we will take a bus ride, leaving the venue at 9.15am(!). If you miss this bus - you will miss then whole day. First stop is a typical Alsace winery. You'll be able to buy wine here, so do bring some Euros. After a tour (and tasting!) we'll rejoin the bus to take us up into the Vosges Mountains to the start of the run. The bus will then leave us, but a van will shadow our movements, carrying SCBs, children and beer. There is limited space in the van, so if as many as possible of you run, there'll be more room for beer! The first section of the run is OK for children in three-wheel buggies, but the section after lunch may be too difficult. However, Hash Brats and their owners will be deposited at a suitable place for a genteel stroll at the below mentioned lake.

We'll drop the unreal Hashers first to do a ball-breaker run, and the sensible ones will carry on in the bus to the top of the hill. There's a fun little bob-sleigh ride to do, and then we'll run towards a restaurant where lunch will be served. After lunch, the trail continues to end at the edge of a lake, where there is a possibility of swimming, so remember your swimming cozzies and towels (this means putting your bag in the van, before you get on the bus at 9am - so most of you will forget!) Then it's back on the bus (if it turns up) and back to Cernay.

We'll be running at about 1100m, so you might think about bringing a fleece/windproof as it gets cold if the RA doesn't do his job properly and the sun isn't shining.

Back at the venue we'll have dinner, and get stuck in to the free beer; entertainment is provided, in the form of a folk band (not the BerZuBa band, thank Goodness!).

Sunday 27 July - hangover day

We have to leave the Auberge de Jeunesse by 10 am, so we have to pack up BEFORE the run. Suffice to say, we will have a run, a picnic, possibly a train ride, then point you in the direction of the station in Cernay (where all cars should have been parked, too).
